Despite their doubtful history they are a real treat, sweet but with a heavy base of arrack, and to me, they are just the funniest little things.
.
Ingredients
50 g soft butter
2,5 cup cake-crumbs
2 tsp cacao
Arrack or punsch essence (to own taste)
200 g marzipan
100 g chocolate
Icing sugar
.

.
How to make them
Mix the soft butter, cacao, arrack or punch essence and cake-crumbs together. Divide into four and start ”kneading” it making the dough homogeneous. Roll them out making sure they are equally sized. Wrap them in cling film and pop them into the freezer 30 min.
.

.
Roll out the marzipan really thin, 1-2 mm is good, brush the marzipan with water and wrap it around the ”dough-roll” making sure there is no air inside. Cut them into equally-sized ”vacuum cleaners” and put them back into the freezer 30 min (this makes the chocolate harden faster = less mess).
.

.
Melt the chocolate over a bain maire, dip the ends of the vacuum cleaners, wiping off any excess before laying them on a baking-paper. If you do one side at the time, letting it set in between there is going to be so much easier! Put them in the fridge to let the chocolate set up nicely, and eat!
