My name is Petra – a wild hearted foodie from Jönköping in the south of Sweden.

What is that to know about me? I´m a restless soul and people say thats because I have Red Bull running through my veins, I spend too much time at Kinnarps Arena watching hockey (forza HV71), I really love me some good coffee and I´m always on the hunt for either adventures or the perfect granola recipe. I can sing children songs with my mouth closed and I´m really scared of any birds bigger then a red robin.

I would say I grew up around food. My mom is an incredible cook and me and my sisters grew up eating home cooked food with loads of love put into it. Us children were always welcome in the kitchen to help and we loved it. My grandma, a sturdy and stubborn Finnish woman also lived in the same yard as us. She took care of us children, learning us how to bake and teaching us naughty songs about the king that we wasn’t allowed to sing when mom and dad was around.

One of those things that I really cherish is locally produced and organic produce, and that I have from my dad. He have green fingers and our backyard have always been filled with every berry and vegetable you could ever imagine. If you haven’t eaten one of my dads homegrown tomatoes, still warm from the sun, you have never tasted a real tomato. He is also they only man I have ever heard of that have built his own mire so he could grow cloudberries in his garden.

I´m a trained pastry chef and started my career as a sourdough baker. Here I gained some patience and also a few (too many) scars from burning myself on the stone oven. Then I moved over to the restaurant kitchen and eventually ended up at a deli-section with responsibility over the meat-section. Unfortunately I hurt my back pretty badly, making it necessary to do a complete turnover in my career. That adventure ended up with me going to Uni  to do a bachelor in Economics pretty late. The passion for food however is probably stronger than it has ever been.

 

Why Crumbles and Kale?
Crumbles is my cat (Smulan in Swedish) and as you probably will notice of you stick around, I have a serious obsession with kale. So, two of my favorite things combined into one name.

I use a Nikon D90 and usually a 35 or 50mm Nikkor lens so nothing complicated 🙂 My favorite cuisine is a hard one but I truly love and feel so passionate about the Nordic/Scandinavian cuisine, not only because it’s where I grew up but also because of the amazing produce and the amount of tradition we carry here in our food 🙂
